1bet Cricket Betting — Complete Guide to Betting on BPL, IPL and International Matches
1bet offers a wide range of betting markets for cricket fans in Bangladesh — from match winner to over/under, top batsman and live betting. This guide covers how to read odds, which markets are most popular, and why staying informed about betting matters.
Cricket Formats and Tournaments — Which One Should You Bet On?
Cricket betting covers three main formats — T20, ODI and Test. Each format has a different pace, and the markets work differently for each.
T20: The fastest format. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), IPL and the T20 World Cup are the three tournaments most familiar to fans in Bangladesh. In a 20-over match, odds shift quickly, especially after the powerplay ends.
ODI: Strategy matters more in a 50-over match. ICC events such as the World Cup or Champions Trophy open large competitive markets.
Test: In a five-day match, a draw is a possible result — so the odds structure differs from T20 or ODI. Series winner markets are also popular.
When the Bangladesh Tigers (Bangladesh national team) take the field, betting interest across the country rises noticeably. All of these format markets are available at 1bet.
Cricket vs Football and Other Sports — Differences in Betting
🏏 Cricket
A match has one or two innings, and each wicket and over directly affects the odds. T20 and ODI generally have no draw — one of the two teams wins. Test matches can end in a draw, so there is a three-outcome market.
⚽ Football
With fewer goals scored in a 90-minute game, odds tend to be comparatively more stable. Match winner, handicap and corner markets are popular. European league tournaments are also a favourite among fans in Bangladesh.
🎾 Other Sports
Sports like tennis, badminton or kabaddi have less depth in their markets compared to cricket. However, live betting in these sports also sees rapid odds changes.
7 Popular Betting Markets — How Do They Work?
1bet offers various types of markets for cricket betting. Below are seven of the most common markets, each with a simple example to illustrate how it works. These are for explanation purposes only — there is no guarantee of any outcome in actual betting.
Match Winner
A bet on which of two teams will win. No draw in T20 and ODI — either Team A or Team B. Example: Team A odds 1.80, Team B odds 2.00. Placing ৳500 on Team B — if Team B wins, total return is ৳1,000 (৳500 profit); if Team A wins, ৳500 is lost.
Toss Winner
Which team will win the toss before the match starts. The outcome does not depend on match performance, making it a different kind of market. Both teams typically have similar odds.
Top Batsman
Which batsman will score the most runs in a specific innings. Opening batsmen usually have lower odds, while middle-order batsmen have higher odds. This market can also be offered by team position rather than by name.
Total Runs Over/Under
A bet on whether the total runs in an innings or a full match will go above a set number. Example: if the line is 160.5, then 'over' means the team will score 161 or more.
Method of First Wicket
How the first wicket will fall — bowled, caught, run out or another method. This is an interesting specialty market where various options can carry much higher odds.
Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)
Selecting results from multiple matches multiplies the odds together. Example: combining three separate bets at odds of 1.60, 1.70 and 1.80 gives total odds of 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.80 = approximately 4.90. A ৳100 stake wins ৳490 if all three come in — but losing even one means the entire ৳100 is lost.
Series Winner
A bet on who will win an entire series (e.g. a 3-match ODI series). This is a long-term market — the result can take several days to settle. Tournament winner bets fall under this type of market as well.
How to Read and Understand Odds
Odds are written in three different formats — decimal, fractional and American. Below, all three formats are explained together using two worked examples.
| Format | Team A win odds | Team B win odds (favourite) | Explanation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | 1.25 | Multiply the odds directly by the stake to get the total return. |
| Fractional | 5/4 | 1/4 | The numerator is the profit, the denominator is the stake. 5/4 means ৳5 profit on a ৳4 stake. |
| American | +125 | -400 | A plus sign means profit on a ৳100 stake; a minus sign means how much you need to stake for ৳100 profit. |
Example 1 — Betting on the Underdog
Team A to win — stake ৳200, decimal odds 2.25. In fractional that is 5/4, in American +125.
If Team A wins, total return is ৳450 (৳250 profit + ৳200 stake). If Team A loses, ৳200 is lost.
Example 2 — Betting on the Favourite
Team B is the favourite — decimal odds 1.25, fractional 1/4, American -400 (in this format, the minus odds show how much you need to stake for ৳100 profit).
With a ৳200 stake, if Team B wins, total return is ৳250 (profit of just ৳50). The favourite is more likely to win, but the profit is comparatively lower.
Keep in mind: The odds and figures in the examples are for illustration only — actual betting results may differ. Betting is for entertainment, not as a source of income. For more on responsible betting, read the Responsible Gaming page.
Live In-Play Betting — Odds Change as the Match Unfolds
One of the most engaging aspects of cricket is live betting — the ability to place bets while a match is in progress. Odds update rapidly with every ball, wicket and over, as the match situation changes second by second.
Say Team A is pinned on a low score having lost 5 wickets in the 15th over of a T20 — Team B's win odds will shorten and Team A's odds will lengthen. Equally, a blistering innings from a batsman late in the game can flip the odds entirely.
Odds shift the most after the powerplay ends, at the moment a wicket falls, or when the run rate changes in the final 5 overs. In Test matches, odds are fully recalculated after each session.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Betting
-
Set a budget
Decide the maximum amount you are willing to place before each bet. Betting is entertainment — there is no guarantee of winning. Chasing losses by increasing bets is never a good idea. -
Understand the format before choosing a market
T20, ODI and Test play differently. Knowing how each market works in each format makes it easier to follow. -
Don't rush in live betting
Odds change fast in-play. Decide on your amount and market in advance — it is better not to increase bets on impulse based on what is happening on the field. -
Be careful with multi bets
While the odds multiply, so does the risk. Losing even one selection means the entire multi bet is lost. -
Know the rules and terms
Read 1bet's terms and conditions before placing any bet. It is especially important to understand bonus wagering requirements and the rules for each betting market. -
Treat it as entertainment
Betting can be a way to add to the enjoyment of watching cricket. However, it should not be seen as a source of income or a route to strategic profit. For ages 21+.
What is a Betting Exchange?
With a regular bookmaker, you bet against the platform. On a betting exchange, you bet against other users — one person BACKs (bets for a win) and another LAYs (bets against a win).
Example: placing ৳500 to BACK Team A at decimal odds of 1.80 — if Team A wins, you receive ৳400 profit (before commission); if they don't win, ৳500 is lost. LAYing reverses the position — if Team A doesn't win, ৳500 profit; but if Team A wins, ৳400 must be paid out (this is the liability).
